In this section, you can find out how I deal with contracting situations, how much I charge, and what my current workload is.
I'm currently working on 3 projects at the moment, out of my desired maximum of 2

| TheDarkTrumpet.com | This is the very site you're on. I'm finishing up some loose ends here and there, filling in some of the content and getting it to where I like it. | Calendar: North Liberty Food Pantry | Currently in planning and design stage. This is a site for people to be able to sign up for a volunteer pantry shift. |
How it all works?
I charge $45 an hour for design and programming work done. There are a number of steps for completion of a project:
- Planning: We would start out defining your needs, what you current have, and the scope of the project. This is where everything starts, and if the project is outside my focus (say a language I don't know), then I'll let you know. This first part of this phase, that is the langauge specification, finding out what you have and your very basic requirements is free. This can usually be done with an email
- Extended Planning: We'll need to either meet in person, over the phone, or over something like skype. It's important to have a voice conversation about the details in what you want created or modified. We'll write up requirement documentation as we're discussing, and come up with a timeline for the project's completion. I'll also give an estimate on how long I feel the application will take to create.
- Setup and Coding: If this is a web application that I'm working on, or a design of some sort, you'll have access to a special developer location, where twice a week (on larger projects) or sooner (on smaller projects), will be updated with the latest code I create. You will have full access to mess around with the site and see what you like, and what you don't. You'll have access to a bug reporting tool as well, to enter your requests. Time will be tracked, and can be reported as often as you like (will be discussed in Extended Planning).
- Delivery: Delivery is done on full payment of the coding work done. You'll have full access to test the application (if web) before this point, to request any changes or features. When we approach the delivery date, all change requests and all should have been reported and completed by this time. You'll receive the source code for the application and graphic files in a zip file by email.
On smaller projects, that is, projects that require less than 20 hours of time (see Extended Planning above), payment can be done any time while the project is in progress or at the end of the project itself. On larger projects, 20 hours or greater, we'll need to discuss a payment plan. Usually a portion will be needed upon starting, then half way through, then the rest at the end.
I do my best to work on at most 2 projects at one time. The reason for this is that they are more easily able to be managed. I do keep a running queue of contracting work as well, and if you wish to be put on the list please let me know. All basic inqueries for contracting work can be made by contacting me.
