Experience
I've been an application developer for over 2 years now, having started work at a place called Townnews in Moline, IL for about a year. After that, I began work in RIS (Research Information Systems) at the University of Iowa. Since then, I've resumed study, going for my MCS in Computer Science at the University of Iowa.
Music
I really enjoy music - both playing and listening to it. I've played the trumpet since I was in 5th grade, although I'm not playing it as much now. I've been trying to play the guitar when I have time, although I would like to pick back up the trumpet again (the trumpet doesn't make a really good solo instrument, gets a little boring after a bit). For what I like to listen to? I really enjoy some of the older rock stuff (Dire Straits, etc), current rock (shinedown - which is a bit harder rock) as well as classical, and jazz. Generally speaking I like music that I can hear what's being said :)
For my music setup, I usually like to wear headphones. I really like listening to something and being able to "walk around" in the music. I usually have to explain this to people so...basically in my mind, I like to start a song/piece, and in my mind, pick out a performer or a section and concentrate on what they are doing. It's kinda the equivalent of sitting at their feet listening to the music. The reason why I use headphones is because I can get more detail out of the music for less money, and the environment is more tightly controlled - so I don't have to worry about the acoustics of the room. The only real downfall - I can't feel the music at my core as easily. I put roughly $800 in my main music setup, and am really happy with it :)
Other hobbies
I really enjoy nature - so most of my hobbies revolve around what I can do related to nature. I enjoy walking and riding the motorcycle, both activities get me a little closer to nature. During the spring - fall times, I also enjoy camping or at the very least biking to a park someplace (I know some great places now in Iowa) and spending some time there.
Family Life/misc
I'm a fairly quiet person most of the time, and enjoy more of the "simple" parts of life. My family at home consists of myself, 2 cats, a hamster, and a guinea pig. Cats and hamsters eh? haha...yeah, I have a Chinese hamster that is similar to the look of a hamster and a mouse (kinda inbetween). I really do like animals (I guess including the few cats that live near my place which I feed on a regular basis :)
